A Cozy Place on Lake Lucerne

Gersau is a small municipality located in the very center of Switzerland off the shore of Lake Lucerne, or Vierwaldstättersee, as it is called in French. This settlement is not a very popular resort, however it is very interesting from a cultural point of view and in terms of a pleasant pastime. That's why Gersau is usually a part of the tour around Switzerland. So if you arrive at an airport nearby, do not hesitate to order a transfer to Gersau. Just a couple of days spent in this quiet and cozy place will supply you with a powerful emotional charge and help you regain strength after hard work.

What to See and Do?

The total area of the municipality is just 5.5. square miles with a population of 2,200 people. As you can see, it is a small district, however one with a developed infrastructure which attracts plenty of passing tourists. Regardless of the part of the town you live in, the immediate vicinity will always have the following:

 

  • Shopping Center;
  • A Restaurant and a cafe;
  • Sports Center;
  • Waterfront and Harbor;
  • Small Ferry Station. And much more.

 

 And if you order a taxi in Gersau, it will take you to a small ski resort in just 15 minutes. There are a few buses going there but they are rare, so it’s either going on foot or getting a cab to the bottom of the mountains. In winter there is skiing and skating, and in summer it’s climbing.

 

 But the greatest interest is Lake Lucerne, with a total area of 44 square miles. Despite its catchment area, the water temperature in summer reaches 70 degrees, making it one of the warmest water bodies in all of Switzerland. Crystal clear water, regular scenic ferries, beautiful waterfront area, five wheeled steamers - all this creates a special atmosphere. If you are using a taxi service in Gersau, you can take the ferry to the other shore.

Among the entertainment available here, you can select a small opt for golf or go to the historical museum located in the downtown. Gersau is a small, but very interesting place, which attracts with its simplicity, cosiness and beauty of nature. Your trip to Switzerland will not be complete without visiting this place.
